In support of the Victorian Government Net Zero Commitments, the Shared Service Provider (SSP) and its accommodation service delivery partner Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL), have recently trialled a new environmental upgrade finance model that supports landlords to upgrade their properties' energy efficiency rating in a cost-effective way.

The model benefits both landlords in improving their property assets and the Victorian Government, as it is a cost-neutral solution that results in better-performing properties with reduced energy consumption and emissions.

Some good examples of building improvements include lighting upgrades, heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) upgrades, and the installation of solar array systems.

About the Victorian Government Net Zero Commitments

The Victorian Government has cemented its net-zero emissions goal in law (Climate Change Act 2017) and, as part of the State’s Climate Change Strategy, all Victorian Government leased office buildings and tenancy fit-outs must have a minimum 5-Star energy efficiency rating from 2021 and a 6-Star rating from 2025.

Recent success stories

To date, SSP/JLL have successfully negotiated funding agreements with landlords for building upgrades at properties in Morwell, Wodonga and Footscray, that will result in reduced power consumption.

With these three landlord agreements already in place, SSP/JLL are encouraging all landlords with Victorian Government tenancies to take advantage of the new scheme to improve their buildings' performances in support of the Victorian Government’s commitment to climate change.
