In an exciting development for the Bendigo community, the new Galkangu Bendigo GovHub has commenced occupancy during June, providing a centrally located regional one-stop shop for government services.

The Accommodation, Carpool and Library Services (ACLS) and its accommodation service delivery partner Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL), have been working closely with Development Victoria (DV) and Regional Development Victoria (RDV) throughout the construction phases of this significant regional GovHub initiative.

With Practical Completion reached, occupancy permit obtained, and the building transferred from DV to the Department of Transport and Planning (DTP), the management of the GovHub has been handed over to ACLS to operationally manage the building, its security, concierge and facilities.

ACLS and JLL have been finalising the building’s numerous ‘stand-up’ preparations in readiness for up to 1,000 Victorian Government and City of Greater Bendigo employees to commence occupation, with the aim of centrally delivering a range of local and state government services from the City of Greater Bendigo, the Department of Jobs, Skills, Industry and Regions (DJSIR), the Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action (DEECA) and DTP.

Both DV and DTP acknowledge and appreciate the valuable contributions made by ACLS and JLL in reaching this significant stage. It was a great example of multiple government agencies working closely together to deliver a positive and lasting impact on the Bendigo community.

Culturally significant, Galkangu includes Indigenous design elements that reflect Bendigo’s cultural heritage and the region’s Traditional Owners, by integrating Dja Dja Wurrung design elements, ideas and language into the architecture, landscape and spaces. In addition, the state-of-the-art building incorporates environmentally sustainable design features to achieve a minimum 5-Star Green Star rating, with sustainability initiatives including efficient indoor air quality systems, and water and energy monitoring systems.

Galkangu is one of three GovHubs being managed by ACLS, with the other two GovHubs located in Ballarat and the LaTrobe Valley.

ACLS is proud to manage this exciting addition to the ACLS managed accommodation portfolio. For more information, please contact aclscomms@dgs.vic.gov.au.
